Many of the older CTMH Cricut® collections had 700 images and when they where available as a physical cartridge they came with a keypad overlay, a handbook (Artiste and Artfully Sent also included an Assembly Instructions booklet with how to put the projects together), three exclusive My Acrylix® D-size stamp sets (not available for individual purchase) and a package of cardstock.
Recently, most of the CTMH Cricut® collections, City Sidewalks, Hello USA, Hello Canada and Hello AU/NZ (Australia and New Zealand) for example, are more of a "mini" collection, that is, there are 20 to 60 full images. They were only available as a digital collection and did not include stamps or cardstock.

This section was created before the Explore and Maker were introduced. I have not had trouble cutting this cardstock on an Explore or Maker machine; I added my experience in the last bullet. I know some people are still using the Expression and Expression 2 machines, so I kept this information available.
Some tips for cutting CTMH White Daisy and Colonial White cardstock with your Cricut® machine:
- use a sharp blade and have a spare blade on hand
- do not use a brand new Cricut® Standard Grip mat (green) mat to cut White Daisy or Colonial White cardstock as both cardstocks stick to a mat quite well
- never use a Cricut® Strong Grip mat (grey) with White Daisy or Colonial White cardstock unless it is extremely well worn
- some have good luck using the Cricut® Light Grip mat (blue) to cut White Daisy and Colonial White cardstock
- do not let the cardstock sit on the mat for an extended period of time; as soon as your cutting (and stamping if using a Cricut® coordinating stamp) are complete, remove the paper from the cutting mat and use the Cricut® Spatula to help remove the die cuts; leaving any material sitting on the mat will result in a stuck on mess and shorten the life of the cutting mat
- when using the Expression or Expression 2 set the pressure at 4 on your blade housing and at High (rather than Max) on your machine; use the multi-cut option to cut the image 2 times; also also slow down your cutting speed
- when using the Explore set the dial to "Light Cardstock +"
A note about cutting the glitter paper using the Explore. It cut like a dream! I used a Cricut® Light Grip mat (blue). This mat had been used a few times and the paper stuck to it very well. I will use the blue mat for future glitter paper projects because I think the "regular" green mat might be too sticky. Some of the tack from the blue mat transferred to the glitter paper even though I removed the paper from the mat immediately after cutting. I set the dial on my Explore to "Custom". After I clicked "Go" in Design Space under "Set" a "Select a material" drop down appeared and I selected "Paper, Glitter Lightweight" from the list. A single cut was perfect for the CTMH glitter paper.
I keep a Pinterest Board devoted to the CTMH Cricut® collections. Feel free to browse and become a follower of this or any of my Boards. There are some very talented artists out there using the products. Search Pinterest for #ArtPhilosophy, #Artiste, #Artbooking, etc. to find any items that have been pinned with a hashtag.
If you are new to the Cricut® Collections available from Close To My Heart this video, , may help you decide which collection you may want to start with (please note this video was created when only three collections, Art Philosophy, Artiste and Artbooking, were available).
CTMH Corp. description of is "Enhance the artist within you by cutting and assembling foundational shapes, 3-D items, and themed mini books with Close To My Heart's stunning Cricut® Collections! With limitless options for shapes, themes, and sizes, our Cricut® Collections will bring you hours of exciting creative sessions."
A few points I want to be certain that you do not miss while watching the video:
- There are 700 unique images on EACH Art Philosophy, Artiste and Artbooking cartridge; 400 projects, a font and envelopes on Artfully Sent
- Art Philosophy was designed as a product that includes the most foundational elements with brackets, tags, simple icons, a versatile alphabet; these shapes work well in a variety of sizes and is a great place to start
- Artiste focuses on party planning and 3-D, items have a lot of interactivity
- Artbooking focuses on 12" x 12" scrapbooking pages as well as mini books for preserving our memories
- Artfully Sent focuses on cardmaking
- Artistry includes many basics; I have heart people refer to it as Art Philosophy 2.0, but I am not sure I agree, both a unique collections

Hi, I am hoping that you can help me. I have many of the CTMH cricut cartridges and I can access them on design space. I am at a loss as to how to so a scrapbook layout from the Artbooking cartridge. In the machines with the keypad we had to use the proportional settings and often set it to 11" to get the nice background and then everything else we could cut and it would be the right size. Now when I bring a complete layout into design space I cannot find the equivalent to choose one size and have all the elements for that page cut at the right size. If you could shed any light on this I would be so appreciative. Otherwise much of the beauty of using that cartridge is lost. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteShelley - If you can give me a few days to write up a blog post I can give write out more details and include some screenshots.
DeleteIn the meantime, when you are in Design Space and in a project, go to the "images" button. From there click on Image Sets. On the next screen, search for Artbooking. Click on the results to be able to scroll through all of the images in the collection. I had to scroll down quite a bit before I found one, but each of the projects are there with all of the images and backgrounds for a layout/page. When you select one and add it to the canvas, they are added to the canvas a bit too small so the need to be increased in size. The one I used as an example to write this reply, 8x6 Snapshots Mini-Album
#MA90EE, was placed on my canvas as both pages. I found it best to ungroup everything, group each page individually, then set the width of the page to 6" (this automatically sets the height to 8"). Then, unless you want to mix up the embellishments a bit, you are ready to cut and all of the pieces will be proportional to each other.
Please let me know if this was helpful or if having some screenshots would make it easier to follow what I wrote.
