CTMH Floral Celebration SOTM Blog Hop - August 2020

Welcome to the August 2020 SOTM Blog Hop featuring the stamp set Floral Celebration. This month there are almost 20 Consultants sharing projects created with the CTMH Stamp Of The Month Floral Celebration. Our blog hop is a circle; visiting the next blog (typically via a link near the bottom of the post) will take you back to where you started.

For our Floral Celebration hop I created this card and I decorated the envelope as well.

I did not use a published pattern; I made it up as I went through the creating process. I planned to use a plaid paper I created using the Build-a-Plaid stamp set (D1886), but then I could not decide how to cut apart the pattern I created. Since I had this "deadline", I started moving the un-inked stamps around on a piece of cardstock until I found something pleasing to my eye.

The flower was stamped three times with Peach ink to make it more vivid. I used the Peach Shimmer Brush to highlight the first inner circle of detail and to splatter a bit. I used Black Diamond Stickles™ Glitter Glue to highlight the negative areas in the center of the flower.

I was inspired by another Consultant for coloring the leaves (and the flower center). Krista of Krista's Crafty Corner–you will visit her blog on this hop–used the techniques on a make and take she offered at a recent event.

The leaf detail was stamped in first generation sage, then I placed the stamp on the block with the detail side facing the block. I inked the back of the stamp and used second generation stamping to color in the leaves.

It is hard to see in the photos so I am not sure it is worth mentioning. I used the outside edge of my scissors to distress the top edge of the Sage cardstock strip. Using scissors with the blades closed, rather than using the blade of the scissors to distress, works just as well, does not dull the blade and is much safer.

Before you head to ***Crafty Happy by Darlys Recker***, the supplies I used to create my project are listed below.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:
If you are not already working with a CTMH Independent Consultant, you may purchase all of the supplies I used at my Consultant website.

I love to read your comments. If you have a little time, please let me know what you think of this card or pattern. I hope you are enjoying the projects created with Floral Celebration — the August Stamp of the Month. Thank you for hopping with us!

So you do not have to scroll back up, the next stop on the hop is ***Crafty Happy by Darlys Recker***.

  1. Great Card - love the random stamping in the background and then the simplicity of the single flower.
