Blossom Slimline Thank You Card

I had hoped to post this earlier today, but I had to set this card aside for awhile. It was not coming together as I envisioned in my mind's eye, to take a bit of a break during the creating process.

Blossom Slimline Thank You Card

Click on the photo to see a larger image of the card.

I covered the front of a Slimline card with the Blossom "hashed" paper. I cut Glacier and Charcoal cardstock using the Diagonal Stripe Slimline Thin Cut. I splattered Charcoal Shimmer Brush on the Glacier cardstock. When the Charcoal Shimmer was dry, I layered the Glacier die cut on top of Charcoal die cut slightly offsetting the cuts so a little of the Charcoal cardstock peeks out from the Glacier cardstock on the right.

I cut the letters from White Daisy cardstock then I stamped them with Doodled Borders using a variety of inks. Then I cut the letters again from Black cardstock and slightly offset them when I layered them.

I embellished with some flowers cut and stamped from the Cherished Blossom Stamp + Thin Cuts. I added Diamond Stickles™ Glitter Glue to the center of some flowers.

Today is the last day the Blossom collection is available, though if any stock remains you will find it under the Online Only section of my eCommerce website. Today is the last day Doodled Borders, the February SOTM, is available. Thank you for stopping by today.

Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop Project 3

I am working on freeing up some space on my SD card and found a Happiness Lives Here card that I have not shared yet.

Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation 1
Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation 1

I kept this card very close to the instructions in the Workshop Guide however I changed the sentiment by using an older Stamp Of The Month from August 2019: From Me To You (S1908).

Coincidentally this is one of the SOTM stamp sets that was "reintroduced" for the giveaways during the VIP We Are Good Together workshop and event that took place on Thursday. If you did not join in the fun, the workshop is available until March 31, 2021 while supplies last. When you order the VIP Workshop Kit you will receive an email inviting you to a private Facebook group where the recordings of the event will be available until May.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart:

This is a simple change, it changed this into a card that is more upbeat, something that we all need during the pandemic.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happiness Lives Here Milestone Birthday

I created this card for a recent milestone birthday. I was aware that the celebrant is not excited to be reaching this milestone so I did not include their age or year of birth on the card.

Happiness Lives Here birthday card
Happiness Lives Here birthday card

I stamped the truck and sentiment using Black Exclusive Inks™ because I knew I was going to use the Watercolor Pencils without water. I fussy cut around the front, top and back of the truck and used a oval die to cut around the bottom. I stamped the sentiment on the darker side of Paprika cardstock and fussy cut around the frame. I used a Toffee Shimmer Brush to splatter a narrow strip of Paprika cardstock and when that I dry I covered the strip with Peach Shimmer Brush. It's unfortunate that the shimmer does not show better in photos.

It just occurred to me that the typewriter from the Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop (G1222) would be a great substitute for the truck when creating a card for someone who works in an office setting.

You're Not Old for a Milestone Birthday

I created this card in early January for a milestone birthday. I have been waiting for an opportunity to share.

You're Not Old for a Milestone Birthday
You're Not Old for a Milestone Birthday

This stamp set (or stamp + Thin Cut) was introduced on page 35 of the January–February 2020 catalog. I knew then that it was perfect to create a card for my aunt. It captures her sense of humor perfectly.

I originally planned to use a piece of Happiness Lives Here paper on this card. However I decided that, while I selected the TriBlend™ Marker colors based on the colors in the Happiness Lives Here collection, the end result would have been too busy to use the paper. That caused me to start searching through my embossing folders and I selected one from my stash; I've had the folder for so long I do not know the pattern name, but it is from Sizzix.

close up of You're Not Old for a Milestone Birthday

I used a nail file to distress the embossing and added Stickles™ in the diamond shape. I also added Stickles™ to the candles, flames and icing on the cake.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:

I heard from my aunt and she loved the card as much as I thought she would. The stamp and the stamp + Thin Cut are only available while supplies last. The CTMH products I used are at my eCommerce website.

Have a great Thursday!

Blossom Slimline Birthday Card

I created this card for my mom to send to a friend from high school. I am sad that the Bring Back My Pack—Blossom special will be ending in a few short days because it is one of my favorite floral papers.

Blossom Slimline Birthday Card - card closed
Blossom Slimline Birthday Card - card front

I covered the front of a Slimline card with the Blossom Floral paper then I layered Glacier cardstock cut with the Diagonal Stripe Slimline Thin Cut. I masked the birthday sentiment to stamp the sentiment on three lines so it would fit in the Pennant die cut. I was inspired by the cards in the Blossom Workshop Guide to stamp the edges of the Pennant die cut. I cut a narrow strip of the Oasis Holographic Paper using the scalloped edge of the Pennant die and added at the bottom of the White Daisy die cut. I embellished with some flowers cut and stamped from the Cherished Blossom Stamp + Thin Cuts.

I finished the phrase inside and stamped some flowers with it. My mom is very happy with the card and I hope the recipient will be too.

I hope you like my card as well. The CTMH products I used are at my eCommerce website. Blossom is available until February 28, 2021 while supplies last. Thank you for stopping by today.

Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop Project 2

Yesterday I showed you how I made some minor changes to Project 3 of the Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop. Today I am sharing the changes I made to the Project 2 card in the Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop.

This is my first card and the closest the to instructions in the Workshop Guide.

Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 1
Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 1

Rather than the sentiment from the Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking stamp set, I used "Bless Your Heart" from Life Is a Journey (C1818).

Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 2
Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 2

On the second card I rotated the card base while stamping the vine. This created a more compact and narrower border. I used a different sentiment from Life Is a Journey (C1818).

Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 3
Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 3

On the third card I used different ink colors on the bicycle and the flower in the stamped border. I also added extra flowers in the border. The sentiment is from Mason Jar Bouquet (C1845).

Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 4
Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop - Project 2 - Variation 4

On the final card I used different colors for the bicycle and small flowers. I also rotated the card base while stamping the vine and added extra small flowers. I used a sentiment from Sentiments & Stitches (C1835).

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:

If the sentiments in the card workshops are not the kind of phrases you would normally use, shop your stamp stash to make the Cardmaking Workshops unique to you. If you have a few minutes, I would love to know what you think of the changes I made to this card.

Have a great day!

Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop Project 3

Before I tell you about my card, I need to remind you that it is the last week of February. There are several Close To My Heart specials that end on Sunday, February 28 at 11:59pm MST (Monday, March 1 at 1:59am EST). All of the current CTMH Promotions are summarized on the Monthly Specials page (link also in green bar above).

I recently worked with the Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop. I was not sure what I would do with four "Wild About You" cards, so after making one card following the directions, I decided to make three cards into "congratulations on your baby" cards.

Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation 1
Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation 1

I had the Shower Flowers stamp (C1612) from Bring Back My Pack—Blossom still on my desk and thought the "Congratulations" and "On Your New Little One" stamps would be perfect. To stamp the "On Your New Little One" phrase on two lines I used the technique of bending the stamp around the side of the My Acrylix® Block, but tape or sticky notes would work too.

I also created two other variations to the card. This card uses the heart in the lower square as in the Workshop Guide.

Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation 2
Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation

On the card below, I split the "On Your New Little One" phrase over two squares.

Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation 3
Sweet Safari Cardmaking Workshop - Project 3 - Variation 3

I don't know if you noticed, but when using the Journaling Pen, I did each doodle a little different as well. I also found it easier to doodle around the entire card before adding the die cut monkeys.

Cutting tips. If you want to be certain that you have a cuter portion of the Sweet Safari paper in the square layered on the Bluebird cardstock, do not cut 3E on page two of the cutting guide, but fussy cut the squares from the remaining paper. To ensure you have more Sweet Safari paper to choose from, rather than cut 2A 5¼" x 4", cut two pieces 5¼" x 2" and rather than cover up the middle of 2A with Bluebird cardstock, align the two pieces right above and below the Bluebird cardstock.

I was having a little difficulty lining up the twisted squares so I got the idea to lay out the lines in Cricut Design Space®, flatten them and use the Print Then Cut feature (I only printed) to create a pattern that I could use with a light box (you could use a bright window or a glass table lit from below too).

The red lines are from the Workshop Guide; I added the black lines to help space the Sweet Safari red dots paper and Bluebird and Lagoon cardstock squares. The angled line on the upper left also helped with stamping "Congratulations" on the card before adding the cardstock squares–this way I could avoid stamping around the popped up squares.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Card with Sweet Safari & Heartstrings
card created with Sweet Safari stamps & Heartstrings paper

This is one of the cards I created for Valentine's Day 2021. I "scrapped my stash" and used retired Heartstrings paper (available December 2014 to March 2015) and Cranberry ink.

I used the technique I shared a few days ago to dove tail the White Daisy cardstock. If you missed that suggestion, The post is here.

I hope you have a fabulous Valentine's day.

CTMH Bring Back My Pack — Blossom Blog Hop

Welcome to the Bring Back My Pack—Blossom Blog Hop featuring anything from the Blossom Collection. This is a special hop from the group of CTMH Makers who bring you the SOTM Blog Hops. On our Blossom blog hop we have over 15 participating bloggers. If you just happened upon my post, clicking the link to the next blog (typically found near the bottom of the page) will take you full circle.

If you are arriving from ***Catherine Nowak's CatScrapbooking*** then you are on the right track; a complete list of participants can be found at Melinda Everitt's If You Bling It.

The Blossom collection was originally in Seasonal Expressions 2 (and was available from April 1, 2015 through August 31, 2015). The color palette for the collection then was Glacier, Lagoon, Pear, Smoothie, Sunset, and White Daisy; the current color palette is Glacier, Lagoon, Green Apple, Smoothie, Nectarine, and White Daisy.

I had some of the hero paper left over from the original Blossom collection. I also recently found a One Sheet Wonder pattern in a private Facebook group that I wanted to try, so the two came together to help me create nine cards.

Bring Back My Pack—Blossom card 1
card created with Bring Back My Pack—Blossom

On my first card (above), in addition to Blossom, I used White Daisy and Nectarine cardstock, Sunbeam Holographic Paper and Stitched Simple Brackets. The sentiment is from Every Bit of Wonderful.

On this card I used White Daisy and Lagoon cardstock and Sunbeam Holographic Paper with Blossom. I die cut using Scalloped Circle and Basic Circles Thin Cuts. The phrase is from Mason Jar Bouquet.

On the above card I used Blossom and the Zip Strip, White Daisy and Lagoon cardstock and Sunbeam Holographic Paper. The scalloped rectangle and straight-edged rectangle were cut using dies from my stash. The phrase is from Sentiments & Stitches.

The above card has Blossom, the Zip Strip and White Daisy and Lagoon cardstock. The banner behind the top sentiment is from Party Banners Thin Cuts and the die cuts under the bottom stamping are from Stitched Brackets Thin Cuts. The sentiment is from the stamp set exclusive to the Bloom with Grace Cardmaking Workshop Kit.

Bring Back My Pack—Blossom card 9

My final card uses Blossom, White Daisy and Nectarine cardstock and Sunbeam Holographic Paper. The pattern I was following suggested using the Zip Strip, but I was not in love with the diagonal stripes with the Floral so I stamped a "Zip Strip" using Happiness Lives Here—Cardmaking and Sentiments & Stitches. The die cuts are from Scalloped Circle and Basic Circles Thin Cuts. The sentiment is from In Your Time of Need.

Dove Tail with Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut

I had planned to share how I dove tailed the banner on this card on the SOTM blog hop, but ran out of time before the post had to go live.

card created with Doodled Borders
card created with Doodled Borders

When I was cutting some Stitched Hexagons with the Thin Cuts, I noticed that the piece of cardstock remaining has a dove tailed end so I decided to use the technique on this card (and I will probably use this when I want to create a dove tail in the future).

creating a dove tail with Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut
creating a dove tail with Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut

I started with a Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut that is taller than the strip of cardstock I am working with. I stamped my sentiment first so the image would assist me with far down the strip to place the Thin Cut. I also used a centering ruler to help me place the Thin Cut top to bottom; I placed the point of the Thin Cut at the zero mark on the centering ruler. I used iCraft Removable Purple Tape to hold the Thin Cut to the cardstock so it would not shift then running the die and cardstock through my die cutting machine.

When the left end of the Thin Cut passed through the machine, I reversed the direction I was cranking the handle to back the plates out of the machine (though, if you need another dove tail from the same color/width of cardstock, you could pass it all of the way through).

creating a dove tail with Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut
creating a dove tail with Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut

The photo above shows the sentiment I used on the card front and what the back of the cardstock strip looks like when the cardstock is cut in two; the right piece could be used for an arrow on another project.

If you had not thought of using the Stitched Hexagon Thin Cut to create a dove tail, I hope you will give this a try. With five dies in the package a variety of cardstock widths can be cut.

When you give this a try, please come back and let me know how it worked for you.

Doodled Borders stamp set

Below is the first card I created with this stamp set.

card created with Doodled Borders - card 1
card created with Doodled Borders

The background was loosely inspired by Card 1 from the Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop (G1222). I stamped with Charcoal ink on White Daisy Cardstock. This panel was layered on Charcoal cardstock before adding to the card base. The sentiment was stamped using Charcoal on Linen cardstock that was cut from Stitched Hexagons Thin Cuts. The flowers are from Every Bit of Wonderful stamped with Intense Black ink on French Vanilla cardstock. They were colored with a variety of TriBlend™ Markers then fussy cut. Some of the leaves were inked with Fern then rolled in New England Ivy. It is hard to see in the photo, but Diamond Stickles™ Glitter Glue was added to the little round flowers and as a "gem" on the Hexagon.

card created with Doodled Borders - card 2
card created with Doodled Borders

I was quite a bit more literal and deliberate when I stamped the borders on this card. It is a little sad that the sentiment and flowers over up some of the borders, but I am still very happy with the end result. The borders were stamped with Pewter ink on Pebble cardstock. The flowers, leaves and sentiment were completed very similar to the first card.

card created with Doodled Borders - card 3
card created with Doodled Borders

A few weeks ago a saw a card shared on Facebook that used the Stitched Hexagons in a random, flowing way, but I do not remember if they cut them from cardstock or patterned papers. I got the idea to cut them from French Vanilla cardstock and use stamps from Doodled Borders to stamp in either Canary or Avocado then I added them to the card in a flowing way. I accented with flowers from Every Bit of Wonderful.
