Embellished Picture Frame

I thought you might like seeing something different on my blog. I altered a frame I found in the clearance section of Hobby Lobby.

I do not know about you, but I cannot go to Hobby Lobby without checking out their clearance areas (there are typically two, on opposite sides of the building, at the store I usually go to). I found two frames like this during a recent visit. This frame was scratched the least, so I picked it up with the thought I could do something to hide the scratches.

This is the frame after I finished embellishing it:

I used a variety of supplies to alter this frame. The flowers are from Moonstone Dies by Hunkydory - Fabulous Flowers and coordinating stamps.I cut them from CTMH White Daisy and Blossom cardstok and used CTMH White Daisy pigment ink with Ranger™ White Super Fine Embossing Powder and CTMH Blossom ink. The leaves are cut from from green scraps of cardstock using Tattered Lace dies. The letters are cut from Black Glitter Cardstock I purchased at Hobby Lobby using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridage from CTMH.

I hope you like this change of pace.

Love Blossoms Blog Hop

Welcome to the Love Blossoms Blog Hop! Love Blossoms is a special hop from the group that brings you the SOTM Blog Hops. On our Love Blossoms hop we have above 15 participating bloggers. Oh my goodness, I thought today was the 9th so I got a late start on my card. I hope you like it. For our Love Blossoms Blog Hop I created this sympathy card. Fortunately I had something in mind to compensate for my late start.

To create the front of the card I cut Sugarplum cs 4" x 5¼", Black cs 3½" x 4¾" and White Daisy 3¼" x 4½". I stamped the flowers with Sugarplum twice. The sentiment strip is Sugarplum cut 1¼" tall and the sentiment was stamped twice. I used scissors to cut the dovetail. The Black cs was cut 1½" tall. I attached the Sugarplum to the Black then used a glass mat, the retired CTMH ruler with a metal edge and a craft knife to mirror the Sugarplum dovetail.

I used a Glue Dot to hold the Embossing Thread in place while I wrapped it. I knotted the Thread to hold it in place on the front. I attached the strip with 3-D Foam Tape.

I used second generation Sugarplum ink to stamp the flowers inside the card. I did not stamp off the ink evenly so I repeated the process. It does not look the way I envisioned, it is a bit darker, but it does look distressed and I am happy the the results. I stamped the sentiment twice with Pewter ink.

I did not get a good photo of it, but I used the "made with lots of love" stamp on the back of the card with Pebble ink.

CTMH This Happened SOTM Blog Hop - March 2019

Welcome to the March 2019 SOTM Blog Hop featuring the stamp set This Happened. This month there are just over 20 Consultants sharing projects they created with the CTMH Stamp Of The Month This Happened. Our blog hop is circular so visiting the next blog will take you back to where you started.

I have to admit I struggled a bit with this stamp set. If you are a regular visitor of my blog you know I usually create cards. I flipped through some layout sketches and was not inspired. About 11:30 Wednesday night I finally got an idea, so I got up, grabbed some scrap paper and sketched my vision, wrote a few notes to help me remember the details and went back to bed. Last night I had dinner plans with my mom, niece and great-niece. Dinner out did not leave a lot of creative time, but I did take a photo for my layout during dinner and I was able to die cut the hearts and splatter my background before bed.

In case you were wondering how I splattered with the Shimmer Brushes...I opened a newspaper to protect my work surface, placed my White Daisy cardstock down then splattered To splatter I squeezed the barrel until I could see the nib was saturated (do this to the side so you do not accidentally put a big drop on your layout) and then I tapped the barrel of my brush against my other hand. I used a large heart I had cut awhile ago for a different project as a mask.

My lunch break gave me a chance to crop and print the photo and also gave me ideas for the page title. Using the heart outline from my mask, I added the die cut hearts to create another heart until I was pleased with the results even though I still need to finish the journaling. Despite how quickly I had to put this layout together, I hope you like it.

March 2019 CTMH News

Greetings! I feel like a broken record, but oh my gosh, where has the time gone? It seems like just last week I was writing a post for February and here I am writing about the March Stamp Of The Month and March specials.

The March 2019 Stamp of the Month is This Happened

This Happened (S1903) is an exclusive D-size set of 26 stamps that is only available for purchase during the month of March 2019. The stamp set can be yours for $5 when you place an order of $50 or more in qualifying Close To My Heart products (and you qualify for additional sets at $5 for each $50 you spend).
