Thoughtful Bird Sympathy Card

I recently needed to create another sympathy card. You may recall I shared a sympathy card last week during the Seasonal Expressions 1 New Product Blog Hop; the same day I went to calling hours for that gentleman another gentleman we know died.

I decided to create with one of my newest stamp and Thin Cut bundles - Thoughtful Bird.

To shade the bird, I stamped with Mink, then Crystal Blue and finally with Lagoon. I followed the step-by-step technique box on page 76 of Annual Inspirations 2017-2018. To color the flowers and leaves in the lower left corner and the butterfly in the upper left corner I squeezed the ink pad so ink would transfer to the cover and then used the Waterbrush to pick up ink and color the shapes. I kept a paper towel nearby so I could dab the image if too much water was applied.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:

I hope that in spite of their grief that the family got some comfort when they received this card.

National Papercrafting Month - Love Letters

I finished my Love Letter! Now to decide where to display it.

The problem was not that the letter was difficult to do, other projects kept getting bumped up my "to do" list. If I strung all of the minutes I worked on the letter, it would probably add up to less than one hour.

I did invest in some tools for shaping 3D flowers. I happened to come across a special price on a McGill Paper Blossom Tool Kit with larger ball ends than the Piercing & Embossing Tool Kit (Z2046) ― the larger ends help prevent tearing the cuts. You can use the mat that comes with the Piercing & Embossing Tool Kit or the back side of the Versamat™ (Z1279) to mold the paper flowers. I still used the Quilling Tool (Z1795) for the centers of the succulents and on the tips of some cuts, especially the succulents. The tools I purchased will also be helpful when adding dimension to cuts from Cricut® collections, especially when creating flowers from Flower Market.

I also added Enamel Gems or Pearls to the center of my flowers.

As of writing this all of the National Papercrafting Month — Love Letters are still available.

Don't forget that you can earn free Love Letter kits:
  • Buy 5 letter kits, get the sixth free (just add six (or more) to your cart and the price of the 6th kit will be reduced to zero; if you order 10, you can get 2 free, order 15 get 3 free, etc.)
  • Sign up to become a Consultant and get a free letter kit of your choice
  • Host a qualifying party and get a free letter kit of your choice
If you have any questions about the kits or any other Close To My Heart products, please use the contact form to the right to reach me.

January SOTM Bloom & Grow with Chelsea Gardens

This month the CTMH Corporate Artists created some wonderful items using the January SOTM, Bloom & Grow, and the featured paper, Chelsea Gardens.

This artwork is in addition the artwork published in Seasonal Expressions 1. The Corporate Artists created this single-page layout, two cards and a home décor item.

If you would like to create something similar to the projects above, the required supplies are:

If you would like a PDF of the recipes, you will find it here.

I was taken with the Love Pot in the photo above. When I was walking the aisles of the JoAnn Fabrics in Vestal, NY looking for terracotta pots to use I found this hanging pot.

The pot can also be used stand alone.

I did not have anymore of the compliment the Corporate Artists used so I created something with the Chelsea Gardens Cardmaking Stamp and Thin Cuts Bundle. I used a "dryish" waterbrush to color in the leaves and flower using ink that transferred to the top of the stamp pad lid. If too much water got on the image I blotted it with a towel. I thought the flower was not defined enough after coloring it so I re-stamped the image. The paper was still a bit wet so the image looks a little embossed. While that was unplanned, I think it was a happy accident.

I used both sides of the cardstock so the succulent would have some shading. I used a crumpled up newspaper in the bottom of the pot so I didn't have to fill it with the Spanish Moss; the pot is a little light. Next time I may add a few pebbles or sand in the bottom so the pot is less likely to tip over.

All supplies I used to create this card are from Close To My Heart:
The January SOTM is available until 11:59pm MST on January 31st. If you decide you would like to purchase the stamp set for $5 with a qualifying purchase, add the other items to your cart and then add the SOTM from the green Promotional Items area of your shopping cart.

I hope you like my version of the Love Pot. Thank you for stopping by today and if you have a few moments, please let me know what you think of my version.

Hostess Cricut® Bundle and You Are Here Collection

Due to Cricut's transition to digital from physical cartridges and the offering of a Cricut® Bundle as a Close To My Heart Hostess Rewards item, CTMH has/is producing a few videos to help customers get started using the Explore Air 2.

Let's start with the video Introducing the Hostess Cricut® Bundle form Close To My Heart: What comes with your Circut Explore Air™ 2.

Watch the video to learn what comes with the machine and what the different features on the machine are. If you do not have an Explore yet, this is a great video to learn a bit about it.

After watching the above video, please watch Setting up your Cricut Explore Air™ 2 and Design Space Account.

If you already have a Cricut® account that you use with Cricut® Craft Room or Cricut® Design Space, when you set up your machine (by going to www.cricut.com/setup), be sure to skip down to the lower middle of the screen and use the same email and password to sign in so any other cartridges you have linked to your account are available. I mention this because if I were watching the video I would probably pause it and do the steps only to see this mentioned when I resumed the video.

Since the Hostess Cricut® Bundle comes with the You Are Here digital collection, here is a video that shows you what comes with the collection and a few ideas for using the collection.

If you would like to host an on-line or in home Gathering to work toward earning Hostess Rewards for this or other Hostess Rewards items, please use the contact form to the right so we may make arrangements.

CTMH Enchantment Fundamentals

When you visit my Consultant Website this month, one of the images you see in the photo carousel is this one featuring the Enchantment Fundamentals collection.

I recently needed thank you cards and was inspired by the card in the lower right of this photo. I did not have the All-Star Complements on hand (and I needed to make more than one card), so I turned to the Cricut® Collections exclusive to Close To My Heart and created my own award ribbon.

I used the slice and weld feature in Design Space to create an award ribbon that says "thanks". I stamped the "so very much"; I used Design Space to mock up my card, if you use the Design Space I share below I added the words using the You Are Here cartridge and changed it to Print Then Cut. Please know that I have not tested Print Then Cut using this file. Also, I did not cut the straight-edged pieces using the Cricut®. I choose to use my paper trimmer (and scissors) to save on paper.

When I created my second card I could not find more of the Sapphire print so I used an embossing folder on Sapphire cardstock.

Since there are a lot of circular elements on the cards I used the Goldrush circle that is not used on the award ribbon to decorate the cards. I hate to pat myself on the back, but I am very pleased with how the cards turned out. I hope those who received them in the mail this week like them too.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:
  • My Acrylix™ Stamp Set: Jennifer's Hand (B1484)
  • Enchantment Fundamental Paper Packet (Z3352); Enchantment Cardstock Combo Pack (X5943) - I used Sapphire, Goldrush, Poppy
  • Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pads: Sapphire (Z2848)
  • White Cards & Envelopes Value Pack (X254)
  • adhesives: Adhesive Runner (Z3372), 3-D Foam Tape (Z1151)
  • tools: Dot Embossing Folder - retired
  • embellishments: Grey Gems (Z3089)
  • Cricut® Collection: Flower Market Physical Cartridge (Z3285) or Digital Collection/no cartridge (Z3290)
    • Congrats Ribbon Award ― #MD384AD ― page 4 ― height 3" ― Background <4>
    • Congrats Ribbon Award ― #MD384AD ― page 4 ― height 3" ― Shift+Background <$>
    • Congrats Ribbon Award ― #MD384AD ― page 4 ― height 3" ― Title <4>
    • Congrats Ribbon Award ― #MD384AD ― page 4 ― height 3" ― Shift+Title <$>
    • Full of Thanks ― #MD72D06 ― page 47 ― height 3" ― Shift+Title <Chrsnthm>
    • this is my Design Space file; note the height is with the award ribbon grouped together/in proportion; you will need Flower Market linked to your Cricut® account (and You Are Here if you plan to use the Print Then Cut feature); I only cut the ribbon using my Cricut® ― I used a paper trimmer to cut the rectangular shapes
  • Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 (available at Level 3 of Hostess Rewards; see page 4 of Annual Inspirations 2017-2018)
  • Cricut® Cuttlebug™ (available at Level 1 of Hostess Rewards; see page 4 of Annual Inspirations 2017-2018)
  • Supplies not from Close To My Heart: Cricut® Design Space, Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive
I hope you like the Thank You cards I created using Enchantment Fundamentals. I would love to know what you think of my version so please leave a comment if you have a few moments.

Seasonal Expressions 1 New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the Seasonal Expressions 1 New Product Blog Hop featuring products from the latest Close To My Heart Idea Book. This month there are about 20 bloggers sharing projects they created with products in the CTMH Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book. If blog hopping is new to you, we try to keep it easy: just keep clicking on the link to the next blog (typically near the bottom of the post) to visit the next stop. Our blog hop is circular so visiting the next blog will take you back to where you started.

You should have arrived here from ***Priscilla Gotham's Priscilla's Paperie***. If you get lost along the way, Melinda Everitt keeps a list of participants on her blog at If You Bling It.

One of the first things I created was this Thank You card. I do not recall seeing any projects created with die cuts from colored cardstock and stamped with the same neutral color so I decided to give it a try.

I stamped "thanks" with Archival Black on Vellum Paper. I selected Archival Black because it drys the quickest and most complete (without using a heat tool) on Vellum. I used the oval die from the Thin Cuts—Gift Card Box, but a die from the Thin Cuts—Basic Ovals (Z3328) could be used. I used a waterbrush with our dye inks. When you do that, be sure your brush is not too damp or your inks could end up with a muddy mess.

Unfortunately I recently needed a sympathy card. The card is for the brother and sister-in-law of a gentleman I have known most of my life (his mother-in-law took care of me before I was old enough to attend school while my parents worked). His brother and sister-in-law have also been there for me since my father died.

As you can see on this card I used the same neutral cardstock to die cut and used different ink colors for the stamped images. I love that our stamps are clear and can be manipulated a bit on the block so the "With Sympathy" sentiment fit on the banner.

One of the first projects I gravitated to in SE 1 was the banner on page 13 of Seasonal Expressions 1. As luck would have it I was in a craft store after Christmas hoping to stock up on gift boxes and I found a banner on clearance. The shape is a bit different, but it will still work. Unfortunately time ran out on me. I will share that project in the next couple of weeks.

Before you head to ***crzy4scrapbooking by Brandi Robinson***, the supplies I used to create my project are listed below.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:
If you are not already working with a CTMH Independent Consultant, you may purchase all of the supplies I used at my Consultant website.

I you have a few moments, please leave a comment letting me know what you think of my projects. I hope you are enjoying the items created with the new products CTMH has to offer. Thank you for hopping with us!

CTMH National Papercrafting Month - Love Letters

As I mentioned on the first of January it is National Papercrafting Month. For this event Close To My Heart created Love Letters kits which will allow you to create your own gorgeous monogram décor. All letters, from A to Z, as well as an ampersand are available.

If you like the look of the Love Letters kits, but are not sure about creating the flowers or assembling the letter, this video will show you how easy they are to make.

If you are wondering which tool is being used to apply the word "welcome", it is the needle-like end of the tool in the Piercing & Embossing Tool Kit (Z2046).

Love Letters kits are available only in January 2018 for National Papercrafting Month! For only $18.95 these kits include everything (except tools and adhesives) you need to create a beautiful décor piece using the letter—or letters—of your choice! All 26 letters and an ampersand are available.

Additional supplies you may want to complete the letters as shown:
In case you missed my share on Facebook, on the Close To My Heart blog is a post How to Use Your Love Letters Leftovers. They created a two-page layout and cards and they are gorgeous!

You can also earn free Love Letter kits:
  • Buy 5 letter kits, get the sixth free (just add six (or more) to your cart and the price of the 6th kit will be reduced to zero; if you order 10, you can get 2 free, order 15 get 3 free, etc.)

Close To My Heart Designer Travel Organization

If you noticed the new organization products shown on pages 70 and 71 in Seasonal Expressions 1, this video gives us the opportunity to see the cases, insert and trolley in use.

I really like how the marker, tool and block cases have labels on them so it is easier to know you reaching for the correct case and do not have potentially open three cases to find what you are looking for (I would definitely end up opening all three if there was no label).

There are eight Designer Travel Organization products in Seasonal Expressions 1:

Organization - page 70 through 71
products shown inside cases are for illustrative purposes - not included with Organization Cases
Designer Travel Carry-all Case (Z6007)

When you have a Gathering that reaches Level 3, you unlock the hostess-only Designer Travel bundle as a 50%-off item. The bundle includes the Designer Travel trolley, 2 carry-all cases, 1 paper insert, 1 marker case, 1 tool case, 1 block case, 2 ink cases, and 1 stamp case. That is a retail value of $310.50 for a hostess-only 50%-off price of $155.25.

Seasonal Expressions 1 Tour

On January 1, 2018 a new Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book was introduced.

Seasonal Expressions 1 can be viewed at my Consultant website or you can download a printable PDF (links open in a new tab). If you would like a list of items in SE1 2018, the Product Index (in PDF format) may be helpful; I use mine for a wish list and as a way to track purchases. CTMH also produced a PDF Recipes (they will be posted soon) which lists the products used (and Cricut shapes, if applicable) to create the samples found in the book. Please look at the Icon Legend on page 1 to see which products will be available after April 30 the last day of this Idea Book.

Let's start our tour of Seasonal Expressions 1. We will start with Hostess Rewards. In addition to the Hostess Rewards you will find in Annual Inspirations '17-'18, there is new option that I think will be a hit for those who like to go to crops.

Unfortunately the CTMH Rolling Bag (HB1064) pictured on page 4 of Annual Inspirations (the middle bag under level 2) is no longer available.

There are five stamp sets that are exclusive to hostesses. I do not have images of each stamp set (you will find them on pages 4 through 6), but here are some projects created with each set.

If you would like to earn any of the Hostess Rewards products, please use the contact form to the right to discuss scheduling an in-home or on-line gathering.

There are four new paper packs introduced in Seasonal Expressions 1. There are Workshops Your Way® Scrapbooking and Cardmaking Kits for each paper pack. Printed instructions are again included with the kits, but you can download the WYW instructions from my Consultant website (there is the link below the "Add To Cart" button); you can read through them before placing your order to determine if you need some additional products or while waiting for delivery. In addition to the layouts, at the end of the Scrapbooking guide there are directions for using the WYW "leftovers" and a few additional supplies (see the list under the WYW in the idea book), to create a few cards, the number varies depending on the collection, using your scraps:

Just a reminder, when you look at the WYW Kits on my Consultant website, be sure to download the Guide (you will find it under the "Add to Cart" button) with cutting and assembly tips. Also, under the photo of the kit contents you will see photos of the layouts or cards the kit makes. Just click on a thumbnail for a better view.

I hope you have enjoyed this tour of Seasonal Expressions 1. If you would like to see some of these products in use, I am participating in a Seasonal Expressions 1 Blog Hop on January 17. Please visit us then; my post will be here.

As always, the Shop Now button will take you to my Consultant website where you can see the other products that were introduced, read full products descriptions and place orders.

If you have any product questions, do not hesitate to email me. You will also find me on Facebook at Brenda's Paper Crafts. Thanks for visiting today.
