Father's Day Card for My Brother

I made with card in consultation with my mother; she will be giving this card to my brother for Father's Day.

While checking Facebook the other day, I came across a post where if you commented on it you had the opportunity to win an SVG from My Treasured Kutz (link is to their Facebook page). Unfortunately the contest is over (and I did not win), but while visiting their Facebook page I found an SVG freebie that My Treasured Kutz (link to their store) was offering. It was the Dad's Workbench Background Card Plus Envelope SVG Digital Cut File (MTK-DC-1073) and I think you still might have a couple of days to download it as their freebie.

I used CTMH's You're The Best Stamp Set to decorate the front of my card. I used Flaxen Exclusive Ink™ in second generation and Olive Exclusive Ink™ on Colonial White cardstock which was then layered on Olive cardstock.

I used Thin 3-D Foam Tape to attach the back of the workbench to the card so the "pegs" were more visible.

The SVG for Dad's Workbench Background Card Plus Envelope SVG Digital Cut File (MTK-DC-1073) has a coordinating metal die My Treasured Kutz MTK-CK-4091 "Honey Do" Tools. Unfortunately I did not think I would have enough time to order the die to use for Father's Day 2015, so I improvised and used hide contour and slice on Father's Day Card - Man of House in Design Space until I got some images I liked. I cut the tools from silver Slice Metallic Paper except I trimmed the saw blade and layered it on some tan cardstock inked with Cocoa.

In addition to Close To My Heart products, I used some supplies from my stash to create my card:
I am a Close To My Heart Independent Consultant and most of the linked products above may be ordered from my Online Business Address. The list of other products and links to them (if any) are for your convenience only; they are products I have been happy using. I am not an affiliate of any other retail outlet. If the craft projects I share inspire you and you would like to use Close To My Heart products to create them I would be grateful if you placed an order on my OBA.

I hope my brother and you like the card. Thanks for visiting today.

Summer Crush Blog Hop

Welcome to the My Crush® Summer Crush Blog Hop. There are about 32 bloggers participating in this hop. If you are new to hopping blog hops are just a big circle so just keep clicking on the link (typically near the bottom of the post) to visit the next blogger.

During the month of June 2015 when you purchase a My Crush™ book and its accompanying assortment pictured in Annual Inspirations 2014–2015, you will receive the coordinating stamp set for free! The My Crush™ items are pictured on pages 150 to 157 of Annual Inspirations 2014-2015. The table in this flyer shows the available combinations.

You should have arrived here from ***Haley Dyer's The Inky Scrapper***. If you get lost along the way, a complete list of participants is always listed at Melinda Everitt's If You Bling It.

My first project was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest by Tina Lovell and posted on her blog My Scrap Happy Life. Instead of using cards from Picture My Life™ Pear & Partridge I used two of the 3" × 4" Cards from the Holiday Happenings Assortment. This card is 6½" x 5".

I purchased the Holiday Happenings Assortment with the intention of using it to help me quickly create Christmas Cards. This card is 5½" x 4¼".

I started this My Crush™ book to remember the story of my kittens. I am telling the story from the perspective of their mother Snowball.

Before you visit ***Kathy Burrows' Snips, Snaps, and Scraps***, additional information about how my project was created is below.

I used the Adorable Little Bow technique that CTMH posted on Instagram and I shared on January 14, 2015.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:
If you are not already working with a CTMH Independent Consultant, you may purchase all of the supplies I used at my Online Business Address.

If you have a moment, please leave me a comment. I love to hear what people think of my crafts. So you do not have to scroll up, the next stop on the hop is ***Kathy Burrows' Snips, Snaps, and Scraps***. Thank you for visiting today.

Watercolor Ice Cream Dream

As I mentioned the other day, I am really enjoying creating with the CTMH June 2015 SOTM Ice Cream Dream stamp set. Today's card uses watercolor pencils and the crafting technique A Bit of Blot shown on pages 55 of Annual Inspirations (clicking the link will open PDF in a new tab).

Here is a screen shot of the A Bit of Blot technique I used.

One tip I remember reading during the A Bit of Blot blog hop I recently hopped (if you would like more inspiration, the hop started here) is to avoid using the side of the My Acrylix® Block that has the line that assists with aligning stamps because the line will show when the ink is transferred to the paper. One thing I do not remember reading during the hop, but discovered when I was creating, is the closer the block is the to spray pen, the larger the water droplets and more mottled I found the ink to be.

This is how my card front turned out.

Since the front of my card has a lot going on, I left the card inside quite plain:

Winner Shower Flowers Giveaway

You may recall that on May 5 I posted how to be entered to win this stamp set from me:

The stamp set is My Acrylix™ Shower Flowers (C1612). It debuted in Seasonal Expressions 2 (link opens in new tab) on April 1 and can be viewed on page 11.

I was lucky enough to attend a Close To My Heart event and I received a duplicate copy of this stamp set. I wanted someone else to be able to enjoy using this set too and that is how we got here today.

Drumroll....

And the winner, determined by the True Random Number Generator at random.org, is....

Heather

Congratulations! Please email me by midnight on Thursday, June 4 (as per the May 5 blog post) with your mailing address so I can get this stamp set to you.

Thanks to everyone who entered. Feel free to follow my blog. As I reach milestones, followers, FB likes, etc., I will have similar events.

Ice Cream Dream June 2015 SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the Ice Cream Dream June 2015 SOTM Blog Hop. There are about 50 bloggers participating in this hop. If you are new to hopping, blog hops are a big circle so just keep clicking on the link (typically near the bottom of the post) to visit the next blogger.

The SOTM for June 2015, Ice Cream Dream, is a D-size set of 7 stamps that is only $5 with a qualifying purchase. Here are the stamps in the set:

You should have arrived here from ***Living, Loving, Laughing 4 Life by Lela Norris***. If you get lost along the way, a complete list of participants is always listed at Melinda Everitt's If You Bling It.

Here are the pieces that make up my card:

And here they come together into my card:

And here is a close-up of the sentiment where I used the Crafting Technique A Bit of Blot shown on page 55 of Annual Inspirations. I recently followed the A Bit of Blot blog hop (it started here) and I was very inspired by it and could not resist trying it here.

Before you visit ***Carol Taggio's Crafty Carol***, additional information about how my project was created is below.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where noted:
Here is a screen shot of my Cricut® Design Space cutting file. All of the images are from the "Insert Shapes" on the left bar (including the ice cream) so this file will be free for anyone to use. I kept adding circles, re-sized them without the proportions locked and welded them to create the ice cream. I was inspired by and used the Pull Slider Card Tutorial for Repeat Impressions Stamps by For the Love of Cardmaking by Deonna Bemish to learn this card technique.

In the end I trimmed the edges of my slider mechanism and made it more square. Trimming it allowed the ice cream truck to get closer to either edge of the card. In hindsight, I might not trim the right side of the mechanism so the dog enjoying ice cream does not get "run over". Either that or I would leave the dog off the card. What do you think?

I really enjoyed creating with this stamp set and I have several other cards created. One was created using the Watercolor Pencils (3505) and water brush (retired) and one was created using the Blending Pen (3174) with Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pads. Since my blog post is already so long I will share those cards over the next few days.

If you are not already working with a CTMH Independent Consultant, you may purchase all of the supplies I used at my Online Business Address.

I love to read comments so if you have a moment, please let me know what think of my card. So you do not have to scroll up, the next stop on the hop is ***Carol Taggio's Crafty Carol***.

I will be pinning the ideas I find to my Pinterest Board CTMH Promo Summer Crush; I tried to tag my previous and current pins with #CTMHMyCrush (so you did not have to wade through a bunch of hard bodies), but it looks like my previous tag of #MyCrush "stands" in the Pinterest database so unfortunately some of my pins.

Pages from the My Crush books and the coordinating assortments and stamp sets may be used on traditional 12" x 12" layouts and in cardmaking too. I attended the Fall 2013 Album Retreat in Salt Lake City and we used the assortments and stamps to embellish our 12" x 12" layouts. Admittedly I still do not have all of my layouts complete (I find it difficult to scrap about myself), but you may view the layouts I completed by going to my Fall 2013 Album Retreat page. Items have also been made with pages from the books; people have liked pages so much that they removed them from the book to use them like any of the CTMH paper packs.

Please stop back May 7 for the Summer Crush Blog Hop. My blog post will be here.
