Celebrating You and Build-a-Plaid

The number of days remaining in August is dwindling. I cannot believe September is right around the corner. If there wasn't a pandemic, the Great New York State Fair would be upon us and some families would be excited about getting ready to go back to school. Instead the fairgrounds are fairly empty and parents are facing the difficult decision of sending their children back to in-person education or helping them keep up with learning at home. Who could have predicted how 2020 has unfolded?

I usually wait to share a card I mailed to someone, hoping they receive it first. However in these uncertain times, and with some people experiencing delays receiving mail, I am making an exception. This card was created with many items that are retiring on August 31 and if the products interest you, I want you to have a chance to place an order (unfortunately one retiring item, the Saffron stamp pad, has already sold out).

Celebrating You with Plaid
card created using Floral Celebration and Build-a-Plaid
I used Diamond Stickles™ on the Goldrush flower and Black Diamond and Diamond Stickles™ on the Ruby flower. The leaves were stamped with a combination of first and second generation Sweet Leaf; the stems and veins were stamped with first generation ink then I used the back of the stamp and second generation ink to fill in the leaves. I used the shorter stem to create grass to ground the flowers.

To create the plaid piece I started with the solid stamp and Saffron ink. Then I stamped the zig zag using Ruby and had just the top of the zig zag touch the Saffron stripe–sort of like a blanket stitch in embroidery or quilting. Next I stamped the dashed stripe with Sweet Leaf, this time, having one of the three stripes just inside the Saffron stripe. Then I stamped the dots in Goldrush followed by the dashes using Espresso.

Here is a closer look at the flowers and leaves. It is very difficult to share in a photo, but the Diamond Stickles™ really picks up the color of the cardstock.

The retiring items I used are: Build-a-Plaid, Sweet Leaf cardstock and stamp pad, Goldrush cardstock and stamp pad, Ruby cardstock and stamp pad, Saffron stamp pad. The August SOTM will not be available after August 31 as well. The complete retiring list can be found here; a list of retiring colors can be found here.

All supplies are from Close To My Heart except where, noted:
All of the supplies I used, if there is stock remaining, are available at my Consultant website. If you are not working with a CTMH Independent Consultant, I would appreciate it if you shop with me.

Have a great Tuesday and the rest of the week.
