Jan–Feb 2020 New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the Close to My Heart New Product Blog Hop brought to you from same the group who bring you the SOTM Blog Hop. Today we are featuring items created with products from the new CTMH Idea Book January–February 2020 catalog.

On this hop we have about 20 CTMH Independent Consultants sharing their creations. If you just happened upon my post, clicking the link to the next blog (often found near the bottom of the page) will take you full circle.

Jan–Feb 2020 New Product Blog Hop
You should have arrived here from ***Judy Faye Garner's Judy Faye's Place***. If you get lost along the way, Melinda also keeps a list of all blog hop participants on her blog at If You Bling It.

For this hop I created a few cards. I started with trying to use up some scraps from Spruced Up and came up with this card.

I used some of the coordinating cardstock for strips when I ran out of patterned paper and to give the "plain" cardstock some character, I embossed and sanded it. Forgive me the blank banner. I am still searching for the perfect sized Birthday stamp for it.

Then I was lucky enough to have a recent order arrive earlier than expected so I started playing and came up with some additional birthday cards.

I used a nail file (emery board) to sand the embossing. I used just a sliver of the new Oasis Holographic Paper and I love the effect. I also used Julep Shimmer Trim and Diamond Stickles™ Glitter Gel to add some sparkle.

Card using items in January–February 2020 Catalog
On this card I used the Oasis Holographic Paper with the Scalloped Circle Thin Cuts. To avoid my used cutting mat from leaving an impression in the Holographic Paper, I used a piece of copy paper between the cutting mat and die.

To get skinnier Shimmer Trim strips I attached a length of Shimmer Trim to a piece of cardstock and I used a glass cutting mat, the retired CTMH ruler that had a metal edge (Z1471) and a craft knife. I meant to cut the strip in half, but I was working late at night and did not want to disturb others so I was not working under adequate lighting and I ended up cutting three thin strips.

To create the dragonfly, I stamped Julep ink on Julep cardstock then I covered the entire surface with VersaMark™ Ink, dusted it with Clear Embossing Powder then heated it. Once cool I used a pencil to shape the wings. It is attached with 3-D Foam Tape. To create the bee, I stamped Intense Black ink on Vellum. I used the Heat Tool to dry the ink before using the Citrus TriBlend™ Marker. Then I embossed it as I did the dragonfly, but I did it twice. I also colored the back side of the bee to make it even brights. To hide the adhesive, I used Glue Dots® Mini Dots.

Here are closer images of the dragonfly and bee. Click on either image to get a larger view.
