Technique Blog Hop - Shimmer Brushes

Welcome to the Let it Shimmer! Technique Blog Hop brought to you by several Close To My Heart Independent Consultants. Today we are featuring different techniques using products that Shimmer.

We have about 15 CTMH Independent Consultants sharing items they created using products that shimmer. If you just happened upon my post, clicking the link to the next blog (often found near the bottom of the page) will take you full circle.

You should have arrived here from ***Lauren Moore's CTMH Craftings***. If you get lost along the way, Melissa keeps a list of all blog hop participants near the bottom of her post at ***Melissa Robinson's My Heartfelt Sentiments***.

My card is inspired by Pattern 1 in Make It From Your Heart™ Volume 4. This photo doesn't show it very well, but I used a few different techniques on the card I created for today's hop.

The first thing I did was stamp the flowers and leaves with Intense Black and set them aside to thoroughly dry.

While that piece was drying I splattered Black Shimmer Brush on the bottom of my card. There were a few droplets on my All-purpose Mat, so I flipped the card over and pushed it into the droplets causing a the larger spots. Then I splattered Gold Shimmer Brush on the card bottom.

I cut and dovetailed the banners, then I worked on coloring the stamped images. Using an empty egg carton for a palette, I dropped a few (3 to 5) drops from Clear Shimmer Brush and one drop from the Canary Re-inker (there was a little ink on the bottle tip so I brushed that against the edge of the "egg well"). I mixed the two and used the Medium Round Waterbrush to apply color to the flower centers. When I wanted to shade, I dipped the waterbrush into "straight" re-inker. I then did the same with the Clear Shimmer Brush and Pixie Re-inker for the petals. The leaves were painted straight with the Mint and Julep Shimmer Brushes.

I moved out into the sunshine to take this close-up photo so the shimmer would photograph better.

I have been able to save my Shimmer Brush mixture for future projects, but I have not tried using it more than a couple of days later. If it has dried a little, you can add more Clear Shimmer Brush drops or a drop or two of water. I've had good success with both.
