32 Weeks Until Christmas

I planned to start posting a weekly Christmas Card on Thursdays, but life seemed to get in the way. I am challenging myself to create a Christmas card each week. After all, as of yesterday, there are only 32 weeks until Christmas.

Since it was already Thursday when I started creating, I needed a quick card. This is the Christmas Nordic Pattern Card from the ready-to-make cards in Cricut Design Space. I used Noah's ABC Animals cartridge for the wording.

Christmas Card Week 32

The gray cardstock in the background has a heather-like look to it so taking photos last night made that cardstock look green. All paper is from my [large] stash.

I could bear to toss the scraps created when cutting this card, so I cut a second card and applied the "left-overs" to it.

Christmas Card Week 32 option b

I have not decided how I am going to finish this card yet. I have visions of script in my head. We will see...

I will be linking up my red, gray and black card to the Decosse's Dynamite Doodles 12 Months of Christmas Card Link Up.

I hope you enjoyed my cards. Thanks for stopping by.

CC Challenge #22 - Pastels and Bling

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #22 - Pastels and Bling read: "This challenge comes to you from Chris and Jenni: Create a project using the following guidelines: Pastels combined with dark bold colors and a bit of bling thrown in for good measure." [Find details for the current CropChocolate Challenge here.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your project. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing. $25 CropCredit for monthly random winner."

Awhile back I pinned a gorgeous framed piece. I was pretty sure I know how they made the flowers, but I never got around to giving it a try. I was reminded of this idea on page 49 of the Autumn/Winter 2012 CTMH Idea Book (my hard copies are expected to arrive today - I cannot wait to get home to see them IRL) so I gave it a try. Here is the card that I came up with:

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge22_20120718_DSC00044

Products I used that were purchased from CC: Echo Park Paper Co. (EP) Be Mine Sweet Stripes (item #BM9013), EP Summer Days Scallops (item #SD14010), EP Springtime Fresh Flowers (item ST11004), EP Summer Days Red/Green (item #SD14019), EP Playground Jump Rope (item #PG13013), Doodlebug Designs A6 Paisley Assortment black card base and envelope; other products used: CTMH Cricut® Art Philosophy cartridge and Cricut® Expression, CTMH Sparkles, Martha Stewart Crafts Scoring Board.

I have a few close-up photos that I did not have time to upload before writing this post. I plan to upload them this evening to my Flickr account if you would like to take a look at them (or any craft projects I have uploaded).

Thanks for stopping by to see my attempt at Pastels and Bling.

CC Challenge #21 - Pop Color

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #21 - Pop Color read: "This week's Challenge comes from Michele (by belle) and Miwa! A home decor project or altered item using neutrals and one main focal color." [Find details for the current CropChocolate Challenge here.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your project. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on Wednesday, July 11th, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing. $25 CropCredit for monthly random winner."

Wow! Home decor. Not my forte. I am not a home decor sort of person. I like eggshell for a wall color. I hate to put holes in those pretty eggshell walls. I like having few things to dust. I display my photos via screensaver on my computer or digital photo frame or in a scrapbook (traditional or digital).

So, with that in mind, I always make something to donate to my family reunion auction to raise funds for the the following year's expenses. I had two of those inexpensive wooden frames from a chain craft store on hand so I decided to do something with them. But what, 50% of the product has to come from Crop Chocolate. Ah, I purchased some of the Making Memories Scrapbook Colors paints from CC when they were available. I could make good use of those.

I started by painting the frame with the Scrapbook Colors paints in Shopping Bag (item #23895). After drying my mother thought I should try to paint scrolls, but I am not a painter. I remembered I had these great stamps, CTMH My Acrylix® The Best Things stamp set (item #Y1012), that can be used to make a border (the video in my Blooming Flourishes post shows making a border using The Best Things stamp set on a mini album).

I thought stamping would be easier than painting. I also thought using a stamp pad would be much easier than trying to get an even coat of paint on the stamp so I used CTMH Exclusive Inks - Desert Sand. I let it dry for awhile and then for good measure I used my craft heater to ensure the ink was completely dry. I used a clear coat surface sealer to keep the paint and stamped image protected.

I used my Cricut Expression and Art Philosophy cartridge (item #Z1686) to cut the flowers. The larger flowers were cut at 6 inches and the smaller flowers were cut at 3 inches (speed medium, pressure high, blade depth 4 used for all cuts). I found the Cricut Chirp (Vol. 344 - November 8, 2011) helpful when rolling my flowers. I misted the paper lightly with water to help me bend the petals back to make the flower look more realistic. I used my Spellbinders Grand Calibur and Grand Shapeabilities Grand Peony Creations (item #LF-005) to cut and emboss the leaves.

All of the paper used was received in CC Grab Bags: Echo Park Paper Co. Dots & Stripes Tinsel Large Dot (item #DSH3004) and Be Mine Sweet Stripes (item #BM9013) and Sassafras Sweet Marmalade (item #11363). I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Vintage Pink (from CC) and Glimmer Mist Chalkboard Banana Pudding, but neither show up well in the photo.

Here are how my frames turned out:

And here is each frame:

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge21_20120711_DSC00025

And here is a closeup of my pink flowers:

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge21_20120711_DSC00033

I hope you like how my two new-to-me techniques, home decor and creating flowers from the Art Philosophy cartridge, turned out. I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks for stopping by.

CC Challenge #20 - Print it Up!

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #20 - Print it Up! read: "From JeepMama and Scrappy Canuck: Create a project using black or dark background with 3 different patterns & a ribbon." [Find details for the current CropChocolate Challenge here.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your project. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on THURSDAY July 5th, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing. $25 CropCredit for monthly random winner."

I have been wanting to use a new-to-me item, the CTMH My Acrylix® Stamp Set Captured Moments (C1423), so I decided the dark background required for this challenge was the perfect opportunity. I started with Bazzill Basics Paper in Blackbird. I stamped the image using CTMH White Daisy Exclusive Inks® and heat embossed using American Crafts Zing! White Embossing Powder.

I like the haunted feel of the image so I continued that by punching the twig edge using the Martha Stewart Crafts Punch Around the Page Autumn Branches punch from Fancy Pants Designs, Inc. Trick or Treat by Michelle Coleman Treats (item #297). I thought the twigs needed a bold background so I used Echo Park Paper Co. Happy Days by Lori Whitlock Black/Light Teal (item #HD19017).

To finish off the card I cut some "tags/banners" from Fancy Pants Designs, Inc. Trick or Treat by Michelle Coleman Trick or Treat Strips (item #293) and added some ribbon (I received the ribbon with blog candy I won, but I believe it is from Making Memories and CC sold it); I attached the ribbons using Glossy Accents.

CC Challenge #19 - Paint or Gloss

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #19 - Paint or Gloss read: "From LMissCrafter and Moon:
Create a project containing paint or a glossy (liquid) product. (ie glossy accents, clear rock candy.) Stickles and Liquid Pearls can be used as paint." [Find details for the current CropChocolate Challenge here.]
The rules read "Post a picture of your project. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry.
Contest ends on June 27th, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then.
$10 CropCredit in a random drawing. $25 CropCredit for monthly random winner."

The card I ended up with is not the card I had in my mind's eye but I am happy with this card regardless and I needed a card for my niece Elisabeth. She graduated on Saturday, June 23.

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge19_20120627_DSC00495

First I inked the iridescent paper from the 12x12 Specialty Paper Multi Pack by Slice with Close To My Heart Exclusive Inks - Moonstruck. I used tissue paper to wipe the excess ink from the iridescent raised embossed area. Then I cut a piece slightly smaller than the white card base.

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge19_20120627_DSC00496

I cut the cap and tassel (cut at two inches) and the numbers (cut at one inch) from the Slice Design Card - Greetings (using the Design Cutter, Hands Free Kit and Brayer) and 12x12 Cardstock Assortment 5.0 by Bazzill. I cut the yellow label using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Labels (S4-168). The yellow cardstock was in the 12x12 Cardstock Assortment 7.0 by Bazzill. I applied Glossy Accents to the cap and tassel to make them stand out a bit.
cNYscrapper_CCchallenge19_20120627_DSC00499

I stamped congratulations from the Inkadinkado Holiday Seasons Clear Stamp Set using Close To My Heart Exclusive Inks - Moonstruck and used the Spellbinders and Bazzill blue and yellow cardstock again to "dress up" the sentiment.
cNYscrapper_CCchallenge19_20120627_DSC00504

I stamped handmade from the Inkadinkado stamp set again Close To My Heart Exclusive Inks - Honey on the back of the card and I cut another cap and tassel (at one inch) and attached it to the back of the card.

CNYscrapper_CCchallenge19_20120627

The above collage is what I used to submit my contest entry (thanks to http://www.picmonkey.com). I hope you enjoyed the card I made for my niece. Thank you for stopping by to see my recent projects.

CC Challenge #17 - 3D

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #17 - 3D read "(thanks Michele M. and Cricutica for this week's challenge!!) Create a project containing a 3D element. Use a mix of masculine and feminine product (paper, embellies, etc)." [Find details for current CropChocolate challenge here.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your project. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on June 13th, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing. $25 CropCredit for monthly random winner."

When I read this challenge, I immediately thought snowman. I have no idea why. My next thought was the new [I am not sure what it is called or who manufacturers it] product I saw on an display in the Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts in Rochester (the 3333 W Henrietta Road location is currently undergoing some remodeling and I am excited to visit again when it is complete). The product reminds me of a holiday decoration we had when I was a child. It was a bell that stored flat and when you wanted to display it you swung the cardboard open almost 360 degrees and secured them with clips. I guess you might describe it as waffle paper.

Anyway, I did not have any paper that expanded like that so I tried to make something that looked like it. I also decided it is too soon for snowmen, so I decided to go floral. I don't have anything pinned exactly like what I did, but I remember something that was for sale, I think out of Australia or New Zealand, that used hearts stitched down the middle that is sort of reminds me of this.

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge17_20120613_388397404408

I started by cutting eight circles from Water Color Paper by Making Memories (CC item 000231) with my QuicKutz Squeeze and the circle die from the Essentials Set that was sold on QVC (a total of 24 circles; eight of three different colors). Then I folded the circles so the printed side was facing in (I tried it both ways and was most happy with the results when the printed side faced in). I used a bone folder to get a nice crisp fold. I ran a bead of CTMH Liquid Glass along the folded edge and stacked the circles. I let it dry for a minute or two. Then I ran a bead of CTMH Liquid Glass along the "spine". Then I applied CTMH Bonding Memories glue to a scrap of paper and applied it to the back to give more support when the circles are opened. Let dry for a few minutes.

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge17_20120613_410411415417

After your adhesive is dry and you stand your creation right side up it is a little deformed. Gently open the pages like a book. I would have stopped when I reached the result in the upper right photo but my mother suggested snipping the paper edges to give it a more floral look. I snipped each layer except the base on either side using Precision Scissors by Making Memories (CC item 001769).

It was only at this point that I tried to find a piece of paper or cardstock to be a background for my flowers, but the cardstock that I liked the most had a decorative border (Fancy Pants Baby Mine item #1244 Bracket Die Cut - CC cardstock grab bag). I decided to use it anyway and somehow ink the area on my card that would not be covered by paper. I used a stencil brush and CTMH Exclusive Inks - Olive to cover the area missed by the cardstock.

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge17_20120613_421423

Then I needed leaves and stems for my "flowers" and I did not have any ribbon that matched my cardstock. I used a QuicKutz Squeeze and a leaf die to cut three leaves from one of the sheets that came in the 12x12 Cardstock Assortment 4.0 by Bazzill (CC item 001812). I thought about using some seam binding and trying to ink it, but I did not want to wait for it to dry. Then I thought I would try to make my paper pliable enough to use it like ribbon. I cut thin strips from the same sheet used for the leaves then wrapped and re-wrapped it around a pencil. Then I used the dull flat edge (in my case the covered end of my craft knife - perhaps not the best choice) and "scraped" the paper (sort of like using the blade of scissors on curling ribbon). I then re-wrapped it as tight as I could - I quilling tool would have been helpful for this. On the slightly wider strip of paper I pinched the edges toward the middle. I am happy with how the stems turned out. I used CTMH Bonding Memories Glue to attach the leaves, stems and flowers to my card.

cNYscrapper_CCchallenge17_20120613_427442

I used CTMH Exclusive Inks - Black and CTMH My Acrylix® Delight stamp set to create the sentiment. Here is how the entire card came together.

CC Challenge #15 - Homemade

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #15 - Homemade read "From BethD488 and LilMissCrafter: Create a project using something that you've made yourself, rather than buying from a store (ie: Twine, Washi Tape). Make sure to include 3 different colors in the project." [Find details for current CropChocolate challenge here.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your design. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on May 30th, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing."

I just received an order on Saturday so I had some great goodies to play with. I started by using the Tradition Velvet Ribbon by Fancy Pants, needle and thread. I sewed a running stitch along the bottom edge of the ribbon then pulled the thread to gather the ribbon. I used CTMH Liquid Glass on the underside of the cut edges to prevent fraying.

I then grabbed one of the sheets of cardstock from the 12x12 Cardstock Assortment 4.0 by Bazzill and similar colored ink (mine happened to be CTMH Exclusive Inks in Olive) and a flower stamp (CTMH My Acrylix® Card Word Puzzle (C1494)) and created a tone-on-tone patterned paper.

I then assembled my card like this:

I'm very pleased with how my flower turned out. I used my QuicKutz Squeeze and a QuicKutz die for my leaves cut from the same green I stamped on. Here's another photo of it:

Products used:
12x12 Cardstock Assortment 4.0 by Bazzill (CC item 1812), Tradition Velvet Ribbon by Fancy Pants (CC item 1846), 12x12 Giving Thanks Black Damask by Teresa Collins (CC item 1773), Making Memories Crystal brad value pack - circle clear and Snake Tape (I think I got these from CC), CTMH Exclusive Inks - Olive, CTMH My Acrylix® Card Word Puzzle (C1494), CTHM Liquid Glass, QuicKutz Squeeze and leaves die, the card base was from my stash.

I would love to know what you think of my card.

Different sizes of these photos can be found here.

CC Challenge #14 - Blue and Brown

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #14 read "D2 and Moon came up with this week's challenge:
Create a project (LO, card, home decor - anything goes!) using blue and brown as your main colors." [Find details for current CropChocolate challenge here.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your design. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on May 23rd, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing."

I have not been feeling crafty lately so it was hard to pull this together, but I finally got a card done. It was after dark and I have not finished a photo box yet so I am sorry about the quality of the photos.

And here is a close up of the butterfly.

Products used were Making Memories Cosmopolitan Collection, Viper Snake Tape, Close To My Heart (CTMH) Exclusive Inks in Moonstruck and Cocoa, CTMH Stamp of the Month (SOTM) April 2012 You Are..., CTMH Irresistibles™ Miracle Chipboard Die-Cuts, Fiskars Just Between Friends Clear Stamps and pop dots.

I used both sides of the Cosmopolitan paper. I used a stamp from the CTMH April 2012 SOTM to create a background on a light blue side of paper. I first stamped in CTMH Exclusive Inks Moonstruck then slightly offset the stamp inked with Cocoa. I used Moonstruck to ink the butterfly die-cut then rubbed the excess off so the white embossed area stood out more. If you would like to try the CTMH Irresistibles™ Miracle Chipboard Die-Cuts (item Z1354), hurry as they are currently in the "While Supplies Last" section of the site.

Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look of my entry for CC Challenge #14.

CC Challenge #13

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #13 read "Karen and Michele have done this week's challenge: Create a project using the following recipe: Spring themed. Must contain 3 folds somewhere. Use 2 DIFFERENT paper lines." [Details for the current CropChocolate challenge.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your design. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on May 2nd, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing."

I decided to try to meet the criteria for two challenges with this one project. The requirements for other challenge read: "Create a project that includes FABRIC. :)"

I decided to create a jump-up card (some people call them pop-up cards) because the number of folds helped me meet one of the requirements (and I like how it looks and had not tried one yet). I found how to make it in a leaflet that came with The Ultimate Crafter's Companion. The card base is made from 12x12 BasicGrey Out of Print Etchings (out-3316). I started with a 6x12 piece of cardstock and completed all of the folds to make the card.

I then pulled out this piece of batik fabric.

I used Sizzix Flower Layers Set #3 and my Big Shot to cut the flowers from the fabric.

I used Fancy Pants Chi-Chi Fancy-Free Collection by Nancie Rowe Janitz Beautify (item #971), QuicKutz Squeeze and QuicKutz dies to cut my leaves and tag.

I attached the flowers using Making Memories Crystal Brads (light medium square) and the tab using Making Memories Metallic Mini Flower Brads.

Here is a close-up of the flowers:

This photo shows how the card stands on its own:

And here is the completed card:

Other products used: The Ultimate Crafter's Companion, Viper by SnakeTape, black gel pen and Zig 2 Way Glue.

I hope that you like my completed project. Comments are appreciated.

I also want to share that I am a relatively new Close To My Heart Independent Consultant. If you ever find yourself wanting any CTMH products, please consider purchasing from me. A link to my on-line store can be found to the right of this post. Thanks for stopping by.

CC Challenge #12

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #12 read "Create a project using a homemade flower." [Click here for information on the current challenge.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your design. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on April 25th, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing."

I was very happy with the first flowers I made (using a punch then rolling them and "manipulating" the petals), but I thought they were too dimensional for use on a card, so I started looking at my other options for creating flowers.

I decided to use my Daisy Head dies from Spellbinders (part of their Shapeabilites line; S4-058). I then went to my stack of 6x6 paper pads and selected Basic Grey's Out of Print collection and here's what I came up with:

And close-ups of my flowers:

And my sentiment:

Items from CropChocolate:
6x6 Out of Print Paper Pad by BasicGrey, 12x12 Orange Citrus Double Dot by BoBunny, Paper Reverie Noir Tape by Making Memories, Slice Tool Kit, Viper Snake Tape

Other items used:
Spellbinders Shapeabilities Daisy Heads (S4-058) with Spellbinders Grand Calibur, Pebbles Rub-ons Thinking of You, Tim Holtz Distress Stickles Scattered Straw, Print 'n Tint Non-Smear Pastels (from The Stencil Collection), Bazzill white cardstock for card base, QuicKutz Label with QuicKutz Squeeze, sticky dots

I used the pastels on the edges of the label and the orange paper in addition to using it on the die cuts. I used a variety of colors until I was happy with the results.

I am extremely happy with the results. I hope you like my homemade flowers and card as much as I do.

CC Challenge #11

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #11 read "Create a project using DeeDee's sketch below. Must include masking!" [Click here for information on the current challenge.]

The rules read "Must use 50% CC product. Deadline is Wednesday, April 18th @ 8am MST."

This is DeeDee's sketch:

I love it! I am starting to really like using sketches.

Here is my interpretation of DeeDee's sketch:

Here is a close-up of my masking and ribbon threading. In the lower left you can also see where I flipped the mask over so the spray would migrate to my paper.
And here is a close-up of my ribbon threading, journaling and a bit of my "reverse masking" and the frame I placed around my photo.

Items from CropChocolate: 12x12 MME Lush Blue Floral Paper (in a paper grab bag); Card Stock 3.0 by Making Memories (https://www.cropchocolate.com/past_scrapbook_deals?pid=234); Viper Permanent Adhesive by Snake Tape; Arctic Blue Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels

Other items used: QuicKutz label die with Squeeze tool; ribbon from stash; WRMK Sew Ribbon Leaf; black gel pen; mask from stash; Martha Stewart Crafts Punch Around the Page Large Set Twirl Loop

I am still warming up to my layout. I am not sure if I like it yet or not. Thanks for visiting my blog today.

CC Challenge #10

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #10 read "Yeehaw! How many times have you heard a song that brings back a memory? Let your favorite song be your inspiration for your challenge this week. And, see if you can use some of those items from your HC that you wouldn't normally use. No HC products? No problem, just make sure to use 50% CC supplies." [Click here for information on the current challenge.]

The rules read "Create a project using 50% CC project. Challenge ends April 11th at 8am MST."

I almost didn't do this challenge because I was having trouble coming up with an idea. I don't really have a favorite song. There have been so many great ones throughout the years. On Tuesday evening I was watching television and saw Jason Aldean's video for "Fly Over States". It reminded me how much I love having a window seat when flying and some of the great photos (in my opinion anyway) I have been able to take of the beautiful landscape below. So here is the layout I came up with:

At first I was not happy with it, but it has grown on me. We are often our own worst critic. Here is a close up of my die cut airplane and free cut cloud:

Products used from Crop Chocolate: Sassafras Sweet Marmalade Preserve (received in a grab bag), 12x12 Specialty Paper Multi Pack by Slice (vellum), Making Memories 5x7 Mat Stack, Slice Design Cutter, Hands Free Kit and International Travel design card; item from Hot Chocolate: Making Memories Green Felt Alpha. Other items used: black gel pen, gray cardstock.

I hope you reach for the clouds and try something out of your comfort zone too. Thanks for stopping by.

CC Challenge #9

Challenge #9 - The Man Project

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #9 read "Make a masculine project that must incorporate something that is transparent, clear or a glossy element." [Click here for information on the current challenge.]

The rules read "Post a picture of your design. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on April 4rd, 2012 at 08:00:00am Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing."

I had a hard time with this project as I typically only scrapbook vacations and special events. I know, I really need to get working on family history, but there never seems to be enough time. I finally decided on a Father's Day card.

Items I used that are transparent, clear or glossy: mono-filament thread for the fishing line, clear clam-shell packaging for the label and Glossy Accents on a fish and "bobber" die-cut.

Items from CropChocolate: 12x12 Splash Collection Pack by Echo Park; 12x12 Specialty Paper Multi Pack by Slice; 12x12 Dark Blue/Light Blue Cardstock by Echo Park; ribbon from 12x12 Lush Brown Collection by My Mind's Eye; Viper Permanent Adhesive by Snake Tape

Other items used: QuicKutz fishing pole, fish and label dies; QuicKutz Squeeze; vellum; white cardstock greeting card; mono-filament thread, Glossy Accents; Xyron 150 Create-a-Sticker; clear clam-shell packaging; black gel pen

Here's the card I submitted:

Here's an attempt at giving you a better look at the mono-filament thread I used:

The Glossy Accents used on die-cuts:

And a better view of the label cut from clear clam-shell packaging, but it is almost impossible to see it.

I hope you enjoyed the project I shared (and submitted for Challenge #9). Comments are appreciated. Thanks for stopping by.

CC Challenge #8

Winners will be announced tomorrow, Wednesday, March 28 at Crafty Love 4 My Twins and centralNYscrapper.

Challenge #8 - Packing a Punch

The details for CropChocolate Challenge #8 read "Use packaging from a CropChocolate.com order (e.g. brown void-fill paper, backing from stickers or brads, product packaging, plastic bags, etc) to create a component or element on a project." [Click here for information on the current challenge]

The rules read "Post a picture of your design. 50% of the product used must be from CropChocolate.com. Please include items used in the description of your entry. Contest ends on March 27th, 2012 at 11:59:59pm Mountain. Please submit your entry before then. $10 CropCredit in a random drawing."

The first idea I had for Challenge #7 helped me with this challenge.

Packing used: the clam-shell packaging that comes around a variety of items. In this case, clear stamps. I also used the "remainder" after punching out one of the labels from the embellishments.

Other items from Cropchocolate: 12x12 So Sophie Clever Cardstock by My Mind's Eye; So Sophie Clever Embellishments by My Mind's Eye; Distress Ink - Walnut Stain by Tim Holtz; 12x12 GardenPond/StonePath CS by Echo Park; Viper Permanent Adhesive by Snake Tape

Other items used: ribbon. Alcohol Ink - Bottle; QuicKutz Roxy Classic and Shadow dies; QuicKutz Revolution

Here's the card I submitted:

So the dots would not show through my letters, I used the shadow die and scraps from GardenPond/StonePath CS by Echo Park. I layered the clear shadow die cut that had been covered with the Alcohol Ink - Bottle on top of the cardstock die cuts. I then layered the clear letters on top. In the right light the letters have a bit of a shimmer to them. I cut a piece of cardstock from the So Sophie Clever line to layer under the opening where the label die cut used to be.

Here is a close-up of the packaging I used:

And here is a close-up of the bow:

I hope you like the project I submitted for Challenge #8. Comments are appreciated. Have a great day!
